Virtual Info Session: Housing Organizing Efforts

Since 2021, OTTA United has tackled the issue of housing within the space of youth organizing. Issues like affordability, availability, sustainability, and mobility are not resolved within a short period of time. This means that youth have a vested interest in shaping the future by participating in the present.

In San Diego, OTTA United has led multiple initiatives in the name of shaping the future. We are extensively involved in the University City community plan update process, which guides how the neighborhood will look in the decades to come. We've sought and passed reforms to the community planning process itself. And we've helped pass policies, like Sustainable Development Areas, which focus on placing more housing along major transit stops. Our staff has written multiple opinion pieces that outline the need for this kind of development. Here are two by Nicole and Aidan.
