About the event
Who are we? — OTTA United is a youth-founded, youth-led nonprofit that organizes powerful youth for an inclusive, equitable, and sustainable future.
On March 11th at 10AM, we will rally and march to support the adoption and implementation of more housing in the University Community. We call upon the local community planning group, planning commission, and city council to support a Plan Update that allows for the most density in accordance with the Planning Department's smart growth principles. We also draw upon the broader San Diego community to come support housing across the city. The University Community is not the only one that needs more housing—we need it across all highest resource areas in San Diego.
The fact of the matter is that San Diego is in a housing and climate crisis. We need more mixed-use, multi-family, high-density housing, paired with employment and transit, to tackle both issues at once.
We come together as community members—students, tenants, employees, young professionals, and homeowners—to say: WE NEED MORE HOUSING!
The rally will start at 10AM. We will rehearse chants and then march around the local block. We will return to the Trolley Platform to begin a press conference, which will include speakers, by 11AM. Please reach out to Nicole Lillie, Housing Projects Director (email@example.com), if you are interested in speaking.
We are also hosting a sign-making and prep session at the OTTA United office the day before on Friday, March 10th. Click here to RSVP to that session too.
